Floor Assignments:
- Sam: Pull-up rig
- RJ: Running and overhead press circuit
- Lou: Rower area
- Colin: Roaming video and athlete interviews across the athlete rest area, vendor areas, and workout areas.
- Joel: Full venue coverage
Athlete Rotation:
- Groups of athletes will rotate through your space to complete workout routines. Once finished, they’ll get a break and then move to the next workout area.
Sample Routine: 12 minute Timecap
- 0:00-4:00: Partner tandem row for max cals
- 4:00-5:00: Rest
- 5:00-12:00: Clean + Hang Clean + Shoulder to overhead press *Max lift established by both athletes
- Routines will change throughout the day depending on the skill division of the athlete group
Photo Coverage:
- Focus on novice and intermediate athletes, event branding, and the athlete experience—including action, candids, teamwork, and crowd atmosphere.
- Capture at least 2 photos per athlete while they are on your floor space. (Example, 1 candid + one action shot)
- Avoid showing favoritism toward any athletes. Get a solid shot then move on.
- Keep your head on a swivel. CrossFit routines move fast and you can easily become in the way of the athletes.
Technical Requirements: Photography team
- Shoot in JPEG format.
- Single shot, no burst
- Lock in white balance
- Nail exposure in camera
- There is a black and white picture profile that can be used sparingly when artistically appropriate
Workflow & Delivery:
- SD/CF cards will be downloaded throughout the day in media room.
- Images will be submitted to Alex, the event host who will be uploading them to his own gallery
Shooting Discipline:
- Don’t overshoot — be intentional with your captures.
- Don't be afraid to get the camera above or below your eyeline, low-angle shots work especially well in CrossFit.
- Get lots of candids to go with the action shots.
- Take time to self-cull images in-camera.
- Aim for 1,000 quality photos from your assigned floor space by end of day

🎥Videography Guidelines
Content Goals
- Target: 5+ social reels by end of day
- One 1.5-minute recap, due end of day November 15.
- Delivery: Prioritize same-day edits. Supply all unedited footage on their hard drive.
REEL #1: EVENT HOST WELCOME — ASSIGNED TO: COLIN / Joel
- The event host introduces Bros x Does and welcomes everyone to the venue. Colin coordinates and films; the introduction is delivered by the event host.
- Cut into high-quality clips of the venue, athletes warming up, and the competition getting underway.
- Include crowd reactions and event branding. Add captions to the host’s introduction.
- Prioritize this reel for same-day posting with the client’s social team.
REEL #2: AROUND THE EVENT — VENDORS & ATMOSPHERE — ASSIGNED TO: COLIN
- Vendor area: booths, products, demonstrations, and interactions with attendees.
- Mix vendor clips with wide venue shots and a few workout highlights.
- Use a fun song and short captions across the top. Include vendor names where featured.
- Keep it simple and energetic: a 10–30 second tour showing the full event experience.
REEL #3: ATHLETE STORY — THE ROAD TO COMPETING — ASSIGNED TO: COLIN / JOEL
- Athlete interviews:
- “What made you decide to compete, and what did it take to get here today?”
- “What was the hardest part of preparing?”
- “What can you do now that you couldn’t when you started?”
- “What would make today a success, regardless of your placing?”
- Record 1–2 minutes with each willing athlete or team. Build a focused 30–45 second story using the strongest answers, captions, and footage of that athlete warming up and competing.
REEL #4: ATHLETE INTERVIEW — INSIDE THE WORKOUT — ASSIGNED TO: COLIN / JOEL
- Once athletes have caught their breath, Colin asks:
- “Talk me through the hardest moment in that workout. What was going through your head?”
- “What did you do to get through it?”
- “Where did you have to change your plan?”
- “Was there a moment your teammate made the difference?”
- Listen and ask for specifics. If they say their partner kept them going, ask: “What did they say or do?” Use the strongest answers over matching workout footage in a captioned 30–45 second reel.
REEL #5: ACTION SHOTS FROM THE DAY — FOOTAGE: PRIMARILY JOEL
- Create a 10–30 second music-driven action reel celebrating teamwork across the competition.
- Capture synchronized movements, partner handoffs, encouragement, high-fives, and celebrations. Mix wide action shots with close-up details.
- Use minimal talking and one clear caption across the top: “This is what teamwork looks like.”
🏁 EVENT RECAP — ASSIGNED TO: JOEL (TARGET: 1.5 MIN)
Opening Sequence:
- Wide-angle intro of venue
- Announcer voice or clip
- Tight detail shots (hands, faces, gear, chalking up)
- Slow motion for intensity
- audience clips
Mid-Section
- lots of Action shots of workouts and movement
- get bunch of groups flexing at camera, or interacting in some way
- groups high fiving or being stoked
- audience shots
Closing Sequence:
- Final slow motion shots of athletes pushing final seconds then exhausted or resting on the floor ( They do this each time a workout ends)
